Boy's Toys

Isn't it funny how very few girls are known to like cars and other types of vehicles? No-No really likes all sorts of things with wheels so I'm sure it won't be long before we're buying her a bunch of SCX slot cars and stuff. She's always pointing out all the different things on the road and in the air...more so than her brother ever did even when he was into trains.

What is it with boys and trains anyway? I swear we have enough Thomas stuff to fill a room with. Everything was Thomas...shirts, toys, dishes, he even had toothbrushes (no, we didn't keep those, LOL). Just about every outing we went on had something to do with trains, which was not fun during the summer heat. I thought that when we had a girl we wouldn't have to go doing those things anymore but I think I may have been wrong. Oh well, at least she has hand-me-down toys to play with...less money for me to spend. LOL

Where Do You Go?

I've always wondered what happens to you after you die and I think more now than ever because my grandma is headed that way soon. It always comes to mind how I would want to die, like I even have a choice. LOL

I really couldn't even begin to imagine what it must be like for her to slowly have my memory go and not understand fully what's going on. This last move has really brought her down because of that. I don't think I could handle that happening to me at all. I'd much rather my body go before my mind. On the other hand, if I had some sort of lung thing like mesothelioma then I'd be just as upset if I had to go around toting a oxygen tank or something. Dying just stinks now matter what and I think it's that fear of the unknown that makes it so difficult. I hope I can embrace it before it happens.

Exhausted

I've been totally burnt out the last week and haven't had any energy to work or do anything else. It is totally crummy! The weather is starting to get nice and all I want to do is sit around and do nothing inside. I've become such a hermit in the last year I can't believe it. I never want to go out or get dressed alone for that matter.

I guess it's been all the dumb stress I've been under with my family and finances and stuff but you'd think that I'd want to leave because of that. I don't know, I'm just blah.

That Reminds Me....

Did I ever mention the time that my BFF had to go to a wedding in the heat? It was during one of our AWFUL heat waves in an area hotter than here and it turned out to be a joke. The bride AND groom were both late so the wedding was delayed, by the ceremony the sun wasn't in the right place and everyone was dying in the heat, and the cake started to melt so the lunch was rushed to get to it. Good God, could you imagine being in a nice tuxedo or fancy dress with the sun beating on you like that?! Oh, and the lunch...guess what they served. Pork and beans and Bud Lite! I was laughing SO hard I almost had to change pants! Probably the part that made it the most worth trekking out there for is that the couple has a bad history and may not even stay together. Yup, I sure am sorry I missed that wedding...NOT!

Summer Time!

We're in for another heat wave...tomorrow! Bring out the fans and set up the pools...not! With energy costs and water rationing we are going to end up having one of the worst summers ever. We do have this one pool that has a filter but it cost around $200 just to fill the darn thing! We're out of pool supplies too so there's nothing to clean it with. However, that would end up saving us some money in the long run instead of wasting water refilling a smaller pool. With energy costs and stuff though, I'm not too sure if we can afford to keep ourselves cool this year. Maybe we'll just have to pitch tents outside. LOL!!

TOTALLY Unprofessional!

So I do some contract work and I have this one person that is SUPER flaky...of course I found this out...today. I was asked to do a project and wasn't able to get to it right away because of a couple family emergencies...WELL, I asked a question and got an answer back saying that something was already done and the next one wouldn't be for a MONTH. Here's my beef...I thought this was imperative so I've been staying up all night to try and get something done. Not only that, I had to go out and buy something to complete the project thinking that I would cover the cost in a short amount of time. Now I find out that I could have waited on the item because there's no rush at all now and I won't have the money to cover it for a month. UGH! Did I mention that I have bills due?! Double UGH! At least now I know how this person is and I can put them lower on my long to do list.

How Do You Spend?

I have to laugh at all of the commercials and ads out there with all of their "promotional" deals. How many people really have the money to be anywhere near frivolous now? There is even a "show" that this one station here plays that shows all sorts of different businesses around the area. They promote them as being the best in the area but it's really just some super long commercial they run to fill time. I can't stand watching it...and yes, I tried once. LOL

Then there's the shows enticing you to take vacations all over. There's one for Tahoe, Reno, and Vegas, off the top of my head. They're the ones I try not to get too into because...I wanna go somewhere! I swear it's driving me nuts. We haven't gone anywhere in forever and seeing places that I've never been like the Riviera hotel makes me wanna book a trip. Too bad some one else would have to pay for it. LOL!
