DH has always been paranoid when it comes to the kids getting hurt. Of course you can't put the poor things in a bubble and think that would be fine but he wouldn't be opposed to that one bit. lol When we had dd he wanted to get all the safety products he saw to try and keep her from killing herself. The funny part is that there isn't a day that goes by where she finds some way to injure herself. No matter what we do this kid will find some way around it. If she has to run into a wall she will...I would have liked to see how dh was going to stop that from happening. LOL! He's so over protective.

Out of Curiosity

I just had to check it out for a second and had found a place called where you can get a quote and I had no idea there were so many different policies! It makes sense but since I've never looked before I had no idea there was a smokers policy or a mortgage policy. What is that anyway?! I guess I'll have to read into them more when I have time but yeah, I found that kind of interesting.

When is it Time...?

I've always wondered what is the proper thing to do about life insurance. Do you start a policy once you get married, have kids, or just get old? I guess everyone would have their own right timing for this kind of thing but I never knew what the normal thing to do with it is. I guess the first place to start is by getting a life insurance quote or two and going from there. Dh talks about it a lot because he thinks he's going to die at any given moment (yeah, he's kind of neurotic). Not that it's a bad idea now that we're older and have two kids but man, it's kind of morbid to me to think about.

Okay since it's about to be 2010 all this stuff about 2012 and the Mayan calendar keeps coming up. Do you really think the world is going to come to an abrupt end?! It really makes no sense at all to me. How are we supposed to just completely die off all in one day?! I assume it's possible but totally not probable. The whole thing is just like 2000 when everyone thought that things would just burst into flames and the economy would crash because the computers only went to the end of 1999. Gimme a break people, there's no way the whole world is going to end like that, get real.

Pay Attention!

We had to exchange one of ds's games yesterday because it already wasn't working too well. I had bought the thing on Black Friday so digging up the receipt wasn't too fun. Then I started looking at it and noticed that I was charged too much for that and a couple other things. Of course I was fuming because I didn't notice then but hey, it was 3am when I checked out so of course I had no idea. I kind of thought something would be fishy later on when I was in the store and was surprised to see the point of purchase displays even with the products that weren't supposed to be out till that afternoon. They had the sale prices on them and now that I saw the receipt I know that it was all a ploy to get you to buy them at the regular price because the advertised price probably didn't kick in until the assigned time of that day but because they were all put out you probably would have had a heck of a time trying to find them that late anyway. I wish that they would be more honest sometimes...okay, all the time. The least they could have done would be to put them out but not have the sale price on them until when they were supposed to.

Planning Ahead

We lost our crummy medical coverage last month and of course it's "great" timing since dd will need her shots next month. Ugh, it just figures. I have to go through the whole process of reapplying and try to find a place that will take her while the paperwork is going through. I wish we had some sort of thing here that isn't too permanent like other places. I heard that there's some kind of short term health insurance NC which is what we could use here. Well, that WE could use at least.

Sorry Sis

I feel bad, there's been some tension in dh's family over the last couple of weeks and we didn't get to see his sister this time around. I know she's trying hard to get to know us since she never really did but he doesn't seem to care. It's sad, he feels like the family outcast and rightfully so after his dad talks so poorly about him to everyone. Knowing this is going on dh doesn't ever want to see anyone thinking that they are looking down on him. Since it's the same in my family I know exactly what he feels like but can handle it a whole lot better than he can. I don't push him but he's really going to end up missing out on things if he doesn't start to change his attitude soon. I almost wonder if things will get better with them once their dad passes away since he's the root of all the drama.

Cooling Down

My sister in law is coming out next week and I think she's in for the shock of her life. She's from Florida and it's nie enough there right now that she actually used her air conditioner today! I hate her. LOL It's been rainy and down right freezing here lately. I cannot wait for it to be over!

Dh wanted to get a ceiling fan light fixture thing last summer but it never even got hot enough to use something like that...okay, maybe ONCE. Living in California isn't all it's cracked up to be all of a sudden. We should just all go to Florida instead.

New Project

I'm having dd make my grandma a painting for Christmas (cheap and much more appreciated than a sweater or something) and while we were out I thought about tiling my desk. It would be more like a mosaic or kitchen looking thing, not to mention heavy, but wouldn't that be a cool desk? I saw these really neat glass tiles that I totally fell in love with to do it with too. I think I should practice first since I haven't worked with grout since I was a teenager and I really wouldn't want to ruin my desk as it is. Fun stuff coming!

Hard Drive

I really want to get an external hard drive. I never can remember to back up anything and it would just be so much easier to keep it all on one place. I've never looked into buying anything like this though so I'm not sure how far they've come. I don't even know anyone with one. LOL Eventually I will have to do something though because I'm so worried about my laptop crashing on me. That happened to two of our old CPUs and we still haven't taken them in to get the stuff off of them. Poor ds's pictures are on there from when he was like FOUR!

It's Back!

I finally got my laptop back about a week ago. I was so happy when I found out that I got a new keypad too (the old one's paint was chipping off and you couldn't see the letters anymore). Even better, nothing bad happened to everything that was on it, that was a big worry.

I'm already knowing that I have to start saving to buy a new one buy this time next year. I can't imagine that it would last any longer now than before and if it poops out on me after the warranty is up I'm toast.
