When I Was a Kid...

I love going shopping with my teenager. I'm not sure he would ever wear one, but so many of those funny t shirts are completely hysterical! I'm more of a picture person myself and he likes to stick to plain, but when you see someone walking around in a shirt that says something you are always thinking, it's hard not to like that person for being able to wear it. I used to do the same thing when I was young, now that I'm older it's a little harder to pull off lol. I miss those days.

Sweetest Day

I had never heard of this up until recently. Apparently my best friend knew about it because she lives in the Great Lakes area. So, what is it? It's a day celebrating loved ones, kind of like Valentine's Day only instead of cards, you would give things such as candy, baked goods, or just a gift offering a sweet gesture to those you care about. I believe the "holiday" started as a day devoted to those in need, the sick, elderly, etc, but of course that soon changed. I thought it would be a fun thing for the kids to learn about and do something for sweetest day for those they appreciate too. I think it teaches them a good lesson and it's something they can share and pass on in the years to come.

Sightseeing

It's been interesting seeing the homes here. Today I decided to take a different route to the school and just on each block there are a variety of different types of homes. The homes around where we are normally don't have garages attached but rather carports or detached steel garages, not at all like the houses back home. There all the houses have garages that were built at the same time as the home so they match. It's actually kind of surprising to me that more homes don't have that kind of thing considering the weather here. Every one really does need some kind of shelter though, the hail storms alone can do quite a bit of damage.

Anniversaries

Considering we just celebrated an anniversary, I thought it might be an appropriate topic. It's so nice to have someone that tries to do something special for me now. This time he picked one of my favorite places here to take me out to. I know that it was his way of trying to find something because I haven't dropped many hints for him to pick up on, but it was still nice. It's always hard to find something for him and I thought at some point it was be great to get him something from Shari's Berries anniversary gifts. He loves that kind of thing and would often rather eat his gift than have something to store away. I think that balancing out things and special treats is important to keeping things interesting.

Little Miss Mess

I know my DD has a lot of stuff, but it's really amazing that despite me buying her things to store her stuff in, she manages to completely turn the room upside down in a matter of hours. Being that she's just over 4, I can't do anything but constantly try to keep picking up after her, but that doesn't stop me from being caught in my own awe sometimes. Tomorrow is again, another clean up after her day. I'm actually quite glad that I was careful in choosing what I packed to bring here so that there is a place to store everything. That was probably the smartest and more organized thing I've ever done myself LOL.

My little vampire on Halloween

I like to be prepared, especially when it comes to Halloween. I've learned over the years that for Halloween you definitely don't want to wait around to get costumes, decorations or candy. It's best to try and get that stuff all during the first half of October or you're going to have little to no choices for the big night. That goes double if you have kids. So this year I started on all the Halloween stuff pretty early and asked my son a few weeks ago about what he wants to dress up as for Halloween.

He said that he wants to be a vampire, and a scary one at that! So I've been looking online with our San Antonio wireless internet for some ideas about how to make him a scary little vampire. I also bought some vampire Halloween makeup and fake blood while I was online.

I'm making this really neat kids vampire costume that looks more like the traditional take on vampires. Hopefully that will be scary enough looking for him.
